Maja holds a PhD in Bioinformatics from University of Zagreb, where she also studied Molecular biology and Mathematics. She has extensive experience in processing and analyzing a large variety of biological data sets, including RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, DRIP-seq, DNA-seq, and cfDNA. Her areas of interest have included metagenomics, transposable elements, HIV and SARS-Cov-2 integration, super enhancers and R loops. Currently, she is working in the field of cancer genomics. Maja was previously organizing and teaching graduate and undergraduate level courses, including Algorithms and Programming, Statistics and Machine Learning, Bioinformatics, and Computational Genomics. Maja led a hackathon in classifying the cancer cell of origin at NGSchool 2019 and this year she will give a lecture and a practical workshop about tree-based methods.
